Corporate Portrait Photography - the vital factor

Do you believe your image is important to your business? Do you really want to be photographed? Are you going to give it all you've got?

Photography's a 50/50 deal. I can't create a worthwhile business image for you if your heart's not in it - no matter how great a photographer I may be. It requires a 100% commitment from both of us.

Most corporate portraits would get you through passport control - but only just!

Often people say their worst photo is in their passport. But how much better is your business portrait? Your business image is about making clients welcome, letting them feel you're an friendly approachable person.

I was asked to produce some business images for an former army General, he'd retired after 25 years service and moved into a very people friendly business - out came the camera and he immediately stood to attention with a stern aggressive expression. Great if you're trying to intimidate the enemy, Bad if you're trying to welcome new clients on your website.

Barristers and solicitors have a similar problem with body language, what works before a judge and jury, doesn't welcome prospective clients who need a sympathetic response.

Handsome or beautiful?

It's not about how handsome or beautiful you are, great images are about body language . . . and posture . . . and location . . . and environment . . . and conversation . . .it's about a thousand and one things I've even forgotten that I had to learn, or discover, but it's what I do everyday - just like breathing in and out.

Corporate Portraits

So what have you got at the moment - one of those stiff stilted studies from the local photographer's studio? Maybe you're holding the phone - perhaps sitting at a desk? Maybe you're gazing meaninglessly into the middle distance? Do you look slick, shifty or vacant? Or a mix of all three?

Or maybe you've been sold one of those lively leaping in the air, grinning idiot style images - when was the last time you said: "I'd do business with this person if only they'd just leap in the air and grin like an idiot?"
