I'm sure there's plenty of questions you'd like to ask about video email, here's some frequently asked question - call me of email me if you have any others - I'll add them to the list below.
How effective are video emails?
This is a difficult question to answer - it all depends on who you send the video to, and how relevant it is to the recipient. Relevance is the key to success with video email. You should only send Video Emails to potentially interested viewers, then you will get response rates that will drive your business forward. In my experience sending well targeted video email attracts a viewing rate of 50%, with a click-through for more information of over 93%.

Well, that's always a possibility, but remember the main point of the video is to raise interest and awareness of your message, the copy around the video is important too, maybe even more important from a business point of view. If you run the video at full screen, your target audience will quite probably watch the video then close it and move on. With the smaller video size I recommend your target will begin looking at the copy while watching the video and continue reading after the video has finished. Small is beautiful!
Maybe, but don't expect too much.
It can be done, everything's possible. It often works very well - if you've got a long lead time before the opening of a new development, then it can prove You must ensure you have permission to use the video or photography, I expect a signed disclaimer so that in event of legal problems it's not my problem.

Spam filters aren't particularly looking for video emails so it depends how aggressive the parameters are set. Omitting from your email all the words that spam filters are looking for helps, and not needing to include the word 'click' or 'click here' helps enormously.
I don't include any special FX unless you specifically ask for them, they could incur a increase in production cost. More importantly special FX don't communicate very much either - video email is about short sharp messages, about one minute maximum, it needs to be direct and powerful.
I stick to flash, it's the most popular format for web browsers. Other formats often require clients to download players, which is a big turn-off.
